    Research Facilities

The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) offers research facilities for both teacher-led activities and independent learners. A growing number of subscriptions to online resources and e-books ensure that students can access dedicated learning resources anywhere and at any time.

Recent investment by the Academy has also allowed us to update our printed book and journal collections which support the whole range of subjects offered. Our online and printed learning materials and careers information, together with a visually appealing, up-to-date fiction collection, allow us to cater for all students’ information and recreational needs.Students of the Academy are automatically members of the LRC.

Membership entitles students to use the Learning Resource Centre facilities and borrow up to five items at a time: the standard loan period is two weeks although items in demand may be lent for a shorter time. Sixth Form students are encouraged to use the LRC during their private study periods and receive additional privileges.

    The facility offers:

    • Online newspapers, topic files, e-books and e-journals
    • 7000 books and journals
    • 30 computer workstations
    • 40 wireless-enabled study spaces
    • Printing, scanning and assignment production facilities
    • Experienced staff on hand to assist and guide students throughout the day
