On Friday 30th September, we will be supporting the fundraiser MacMillan Coffee Morning and our local charity Kidz In Action. In support of this fundraiser, we will be hosting a cake sale with all of the money being donated to MacMillan and Kidz In Action. The money will help people who are facing cancer and give opportunities to children and young adults with special needs.

Parents are also invited to come and buy cakes and refreshments in the school Cafe during Period 1.

At Break Time and Lunchtime cakes and refreshments will be available for students and staff to purchase.kidz-in-action

We will also be selling tickets to create your own cake pop workshop to both students and a staff. The tickets will cost £1.50 to make and decorate your own cake pop.

High Achievers Soar at All Saints Academy

In an unprecedented year of examination success, 20 of All Saints’ high achievers have attained 10 or more A*-C grades. Most notably, Joshua McGhee and Danny Fraser attained 13 A*-C equivalents: Josh’s results included 1A* and 9As and Danny’s 6As and 5Bs. Gabriella Cawley achieved 12 A*-C grades including 5As and 4Bs.

10 students achieved 11 A*-C grades; of these the highest attainers were Jade Windley (1A*,6As and 3Bs), Kaitlin Horton Samuel (1A*,6As and 4Bs) and Hannah Leah Morgan with 5As and 3Bs. A further 7 students attained 10 A*-C grades.

All Saints students have made more progress than last year’s cohort, putting the Academy in a strong position for future success.

Acting Principal, Liz Furber, commented, ‘Following on from our wonderful success last week with 100% A*-E at ‘A’ Level, it is fantastic to see how the students in Year 11 have also embraced the desire for academic excellence. I am extremely proud of all of our students who have worked diligently to ensure they get the best results possible. As an Academy we have had a sharp focus on improving exam technique and have used timely interventions which have had a measurable impact on our outcomes. These results clearly show that All Saints is on a journey to becoming an outstanding academy and I am confident these are just the first steps!’

Chair of Governors, David Fraser, added: ‘Liz Furber has quite rightly highlighted the achievement and hard work of our students. I want to pay tribute to the significant progress and success that she, and her team, has achieved since last November when they assumed the helm at All Saints. The Academy is in a strong place due to the effort that has been put in over the past 10 months.’

During the Easter holidays, we took 10 AS Geographers to Nettlecombe Court Field studies centre in Somerset. Set in the beautiful open countryside, Nettlecombe is a stunning old manor house which now hosts GCSE and A-level Geography courses.

We spent a successful weekend completing fieldwork for our AS Unit 2 exam, examining the development of the Somerset coast as a tourist resort, the coastal management in place and comparing the rural deprivation of villages in the area. On the way home we stopped off at Stonehenge to see one of the Wonders of Britain.

The students were fantastic representatives of the Academy and demonstrated excellent leadership and team work skills throughout the weekend.

On Monday 09, Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 February 2015, All Saints Academy performed its annual school production – this year, the Wizard of OZ.

Students were incredible during rehearsals and performed two fantastic evening shows, as well as a matinee show for children from local feeder schools.

For all involved it has been an amazing experience and as Head of Production I can honestly say I am truly proud to have worked with such talented young stars!

A huge thank you to all students and staff who made the performances possible.

Sponsors and Governors are pleased to announce the results of the consultation process to change the Academy Day with effect from September 2015.

41 items of feedback were received, of which 53.7% were in favour. (Report available here)

Governors are pleased to receive feedback and comments are noted.

As a result of the feedback, the proposals will now be implemented, details of which are provided below.

Students and staff at All Saints Academy have been busy preparing Christmas Shoe boxes for the charity Samaritans Purse. When completed the boxes will be taken to Totternhoe Church and Samaritans Purse will then collect them for delivery to children who are in need at Christmas time.

Many thanks to our parents for their support with this appeal. Last year we made up 30 boxes so we are hoping to make up even more this year. We will be collecting gifts and boxes up until November 4th so if you would like to contribute to this appeal there is still time.

On Wednesday 30th of January the year 12 BTEC Art group participated in a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party to help generate ideas for their Alice In Wonderland project.

The students are all working towards a BTEC Level 3 qualification in Art and Design and have to work to briefs that simulate real industry experience. In this instance, students are designing a book cover for Lewis Carroll’s famous story.

All students had the opportunity to use the potter’s wheel to create their own cup for the tea party which was decorated with paints and glazes to reflect the nature of the story.

All of the students fully participated with costumes and activities leading to interesting, successful outcomes. Even Miss Anton came along and joined in with a Mad Hatter’s hat!
